In September 2026 i decided to take the next step in my music journey and join one of the leading Music Production Universities in the UK . I already had a good amount of knowledge of Futureworks due to my brother attending around 2017 to obtain a bachelor’s degree in audio Engineering so i knew the high level of education and teaching i would receive studying there. Although i had a few Ep’s and tracks signed to small record labels i felt that my career was not moving forward as fast as it should be after 5 years since starting to learn music production. Manchester college had given me a great starting point learning music technology in 2019, but the rest of my learning had mostly came from YouTube tutorials and trial and error. I needed a more professional level of knowledge while simultaneously having the chance to network with other students, also Lecturers at Futureworks who were still working in the music industry. Futureworks also run their own record label ‘1043 recordings’ which is an in house label where you can release your own music via social media platforms. Pete Jenkins another lecturer runs ‘Paper Recordings’ & ‘Paper Vision Films’ which is a Manchester based record company and documentary film production company founded in 1993, they have released over 2000 recordings created by over 200 artists, producers and remixers in over 50 countries, this is obviously something that i was excited about learning as they release deep house and Nu-disco a genre i enjoy producing myself. As well as coming away from the 3 year course with a Bachelor’s Degree, for me its the amount of new skills i will pick up and how much my tracks will improve as i gain experience and knowledge from the high level musicians who lecture there. The future looks bright as i have nothing to lose and so much to gain from attending Futureworks, and although the 1st year has been stressful and overwhelming at times as i adjust to a new routine and studying again as its been a long time since i did i have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and assignments so far.
